Commanding Officers

Captains Peter & Youngsun Kang

Captains Peter and Youngsun Kang were born and raised in South Korea. They met Jesus Christ during their teenage years and came to the U.S.A. to continue their study. They joined The Salvation Army after teaching TaeKwonDo and piano at the Houston International Corps, where after serving for years, they received their calling to officership.

Captain Peter completed his Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry from Trevecca Nazarene University, and Captain Youngsun is a graduate of the University of Houston with Master of Science degrees in Chemistry and Computer Information Systems. Together they were ordained from The Salvation Army’s Evangeline Booth College for Officers Training in Atlanta.

They are currently serving as the Corps officer at the Houston Temple Corps Community Center in Houston, Texas, and have two children, Joseph and Esther, who love to worship God through music together as a family.
