JONES RESIDENCE

Establishing A Future And A Hope For Homeless Families And Children

Our Jones Residence is a housing navigation program designed to transition homeless women and families back into the community. The Salvation Army provides case management, childcare, job skills training, substance abuse counseling, job placement, and referral to resources when needed. While residents stay at the Jones Residence, adults and children are invited to participate in a full schedule of classes and counseling designed to address the underlying causes of homelessness and facilitate healing in a nurturing environment. Through this work, our residents have the necessary tools to return to independence. Children are offered counseling, tutoring, and childcare services, as well as school uniforms. They also participate in field trips, parties, and summer day camps. This housing program is unique in that it keeps both parents together during the process.

After families and women transition out of Jones Residence, case managers offer household goods, items meeting practical and spiritual needs, and 12 months of case management follow-up. We provide a place of safety and healing for women and children, many of whom are survivors of domestic violence, crime, and generational poverty.

Our dedicated and caring staff equip clients to embrace responsibility, meet goals, and gain self-sufficiency. Even after residents secure permanent housing, we continue to help them maintain stability via emergency food and utility assistance. In 2019, The Jones Residence provided shelter for 556 women and children and permanently housed 298 women and children.

ANTI-HUMAN TRAFFICKING AT JONES FAMILY RESIDENCE

Every Year, Between 14,500 And 17,500 People Are Trafficked Into This Country

For more than 150 years, The Salvation Army has stood firmly behind women and children subjected to organized commercial sexual exploitation.

The Salvation Army raises awareness of the injustices of human trafficking by partnering with local coalitions. We prevent future crimes through activities that stop trafficking in its tracks and our work reduces demand for forced labor and commercial sex. We also help rescue and restore current victims by improving the identification and prosecution of local traffickers. We give ongoing care to those escaping the life of human trafficking. Along with the immediate needs of shelter, transportation, food, and clothing, we address physical and psychological trauma through various services.
