Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Celebrates Fall Membership & Awards Over $900k in Grant
The spirit of faith, fellowship, and generosity was on full display as the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary (SAWA) celebrated its annual Fall Membership meeting, bringing together dedicated members, Salvation Army officers, staff, volunteers, and supporters for a memorable occasion of service and giving. The event celebrated the Auxiliary’s continued commitment to expanding its membership, strengthening its mission, and transforming lives across The Salvation Army Greater Houston Area.
A longstanding tradition of the Fall Membership meeting is the welcoming of new members into the Women’s Auxiliary, an organization of passionate women united by their commitment to serving others and advancing The Salvation Army’s mission. The event also serves as an opportunity to distribute grants to Salvation Army programs throughout Greater Houston, made possible through funds raised at the Auxiliary’s annual Reflections on Style (ROS) fundraising event.
This year, the Women’s Auxiliary demonstrated the extraordinary impact of collective generosity by distributing more than $900,000 in grants to support a wide range of Salvation Army programs and ministries. These funds will help strengthen essential services, expand community outreach, support youth development, provide shelter and rehabilitation services, and bring hope to individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
The generous grant distribution reflects the Women’s Auxiliary’s unwavering dedication to supporting The Salvation Army’s mission of meeting human needs without discrimination. The funding was shared among numerous programs and facilities throughout the Greater Houston Area, including:

Garden City Red Shield Youth Center
Aldine Westfield Temple Corps and Red Shield Youth Center

The event was further enriched by the uplifting sounds of The Salvation Army Texas Divisional Brass Ensemble, led by the SAWA President Darlene Clark, whose musical leadership added a special atmosphere of celebration, unity, and worship. The music complemented the spirit of the occasion in the celebration of America’s 250th birthday.
The success of this extraordinary event would not have been possible without the dedication and support of many individuals. The Salvation Army Greater Houston Area extends its sincere appreciation to the event Chairs, Lilly Andress and Carol Sharpe, all Women’s Auxiliary members, Salvation Army officers, staff, and volunteers who contributed their time, energy, leadership, and resources to make this event a resounding success.
Special recognition goes to the SAWA President Darlene Clark for her leadership and for guiding the Auxiliary in its mission of service, as well as to every member whose generosity and commitment help sustain the annual Reflections on Style fundraising initiative and its far-reaching impact.
To our officers, employees, volunteers, and supporters, thank you for standing together in service and for sharing in the vision of a community where hope is restored, lives are transformed, and no one is left behind.
May this spirit of generosity continue to inspire us all, reminding us that every act of kindness, every hour of service, and every gift given in love has the power to change lives.
