Red Shield Youth Centers Host Fall Leaders Training
The Salvation Army’s Red Shield Youth Centers (RSYC) recently hosted its Fall Leaders Training, bringing together directors from across Texas for three meaningful days of professional development, spiritual renewal, reflection, and fellowship.
The three-day gathering provided an opportunity for RSYC directors to strengthen their leadership skills, share experiences, and deepen their commitment to creating safe, supportive, and empowering environments for the young people they serve. Through a combination of devotional sessions, dedicated time for reflection, and focused training opportunities, participants were encouraged to grow both personally and professionally while exploring new ways to make a lasting impact in their communities.
A highlight of the training was the Awards & Alumni Panel Brunch, their experiences and insights, the panelists served as a reminder of the meaningful relationships, guidance, and opportunities that help young people discover their potential and become leaders in their own right.
The distinguished panelists included:
Teranyne Overshown - Garden City
KJ Vinson - Houston Northwest
Tre Wallace Jones - Northwest
Kevin - Irvington
Jayden Outler - Northwest
Ettine Ndem - Northwest
Taylor Gilbert - Northwest
Captain Dante Salgado - Irvington
Breanna Boyd - Aldine Westfield
Coach Patrick Mouton - Aldine Westfield
Beyond the training sessions, our directors and officers also enjoyed a special opportunity to attend a Houston Rockets game! The evening came with an unexpected surprise as the team received a special scoreboard shoutout, made possible through the generosity of our Area Commanders Captains Walker and the Houston Rockets.
As Red Shield Youth Centers continue their work across Texas, gatherings like this serve as an important reminder that strong leaders help build strong communities - and that investing in those who serve young people is an investment in the next generation.
Together, we continue to inspire, equip, and empower leaders to make a lasting difference in the lives of the youth we serve.
