Mr. Morris Journey with The Salvation Army
Every journey toward stability begins with courage and for Morris Collins, that courage has guided him through seasons of hardship into a life filled with promise and independence.
Morris’s story is one of perseverance and hope. After facing homelessness, unsafe housing, and mental health challenges, he refused to give up. Through steady determination and the support of The Salvation Army’s EHV Case Management Program, Morris began taking steps to rebuild his life one goal at a time.
Since moving into a safe and affordable apartment in March 2025, Morris has focused on strengthening his financial wellness.
He’s been building his savings toward a $1,000 emergency fund and developing stronger budgeting skills key milestones that are helping him sustain his stability.
With guidance from his case manager, he’s also improving his physical health through nutrition education and meal planning, ensuring he can maintain both his wellbeing and independence for years to come. But Morris’s vision goes far beyond stability he’s working toward growth.
He is currently exploring opportunities to transition from demanding manual labor into driver positions that offer greater financial security and flexibility. This shift will not only provide a more sustainable income but also allow him to pursue his dream of returning to college to earn a degree in computer science.
Through every step, Morris has shown remarkable resilience and faith in his own potential. As he prepares to successfully exit the EHV Case Management program, he stands as a powerful reminder that with support, faith, and determination, lasting transformation is possible.
The Salvation Army is honored to walk alongside Morris on his journey, celebrating not only his progress but the bright future he continues to build.
