Hope, Freedom, and Compassion in Action
As we celebrate the remarkable milestone of our nation’s 250th year of independence, we pause with grateful hearts to reflect on the enduring blessings we have received as a country. For two and a half centuries, the United States of America has stood as a beacon of liberty, shaped by perseverance, sustained through sacrifice, and strengthened by the courage of countless men and women who have answered the call to serve.
This anniversary is more than a historical marker; it is a sacred opportunity to honor those who have defended our freedoms across generations. From the earliest days of our nation to the present, brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and first responders have stood in the gap, often at great personal cost, to preserve the liberties we so deeply cherish.
From the earliest days of our nation to the present, brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and first responders have stood in the gap, often at great personal cost, to preserve the liberties we so deeply cherish. Scripture reminds us in John 15:13, Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” These words echo powerfully as we remember those who have sacrificed not only comfort, but in many cases their very lives, so that others may live in freedom and peace.
As people of faith, we recognize that our ultimate hope does not rest only in earthly freedoms, but in the eternal freedom we have through Christ. Yet we also give thanks that God, in His providence, has allowed us to live in a nation where we can worship freely, serve openly, and extend compassion boldly to those in need.
This moment calls us not only to remembrance, but also to renewed commitment. Let us honor the legacy of those who came before us by living lives marked by service, integrity, and love for our neighbors. Let us continue to be good stewards of the freedoms entrusted to us, seeking justice, extending mercy, and walking humbly with our God (Micah 6:8).
Here in the Greater Houston Area Command, we see every day how the spirit of service continues through each of you, our officers, staff, volunteers, and community partners. As we minister to the hurting, feed the hungry, and bring hope to the broken, we reflect the very heart of Christ and uphold the values that have long defined our nation at its best.
As we celebrate this historic milestone, may we be filled with gratitude, inspired by sacrifice, and united in purpose. And may we continue to pray for our country, our leaders, and all who serve, asking God to guide us with wisdom, strengthen us with courage, and lead us in peace.
God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.
Happy Independence Day!
