Gratitude and Reflection: Honoring the Past, Embracing the Year Ahead

Feb 5, 2026

As we begin a new year, we take a meaningful moment to pause, reflect, and give thanks. The close of the holiday season offers an opportunity to look back on all that was accomplished through the generosity, compassion, and unwavering support of our community. Every gift given, every hour volunteered, and every prayer offered played a vital role in helping The Salvation Army serve those in need.

Throughout the past year and especially during the busy holiday season our mission was made visible through countless acts of kindness. Families facing financial hardship received food on their tables, children experienced the joy of the holidays through Angel Tree, and individuals found hope, warmth, and care during some of life’s most difficult moments. These outcomes were only possible because of the faithful support of donors, volunteers, community partners, Advisory Board members, Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Members and staff who stepped forward when it mattered most.

Gratitude also invites reflection. It allows us to recognize not only what we have achieved together, but why our work continues to be so important. While the decorations come down and the season changes, the needs within our community do not disappear. January often brings new challenges cold weather, financial strain, and uncertainty for many families. Because of your continued support, The Salvation Army remains ready to serve, offering assistance, encouragement, and stability long after the holidays have ended.

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17 (NIV)

As we reflect on the year behind us, we are also inspired by the possibilities ahead. The lessons learned, the partnerships strengthened, and the lives impacted fuel our commitment to move forward with renewed purpose. Together, we will continue to expand programs, strengthen services, and respond to the evolving needs of our neighbors with compassion and care.

Thank you for being an essential part of this mission. Your generosity and belief in our work make it possible for The Salvation Army to continue Doing the Most Good, not just during the holidays, but every day of the year. As we step into this new chapter, we do so with hope, gratitude, and a shared commitment to serving our community together.

Happy New Year!
