Farewell, Major Linda Keeney

Jul 13, 2026

With grateful hearts, The Salvation Army Greater Houston bids farewell to Major Linda Keeny as she enters retirement after faithfully serving our community in a variety of leadership roles.

Throughout her ministry in Houston, Major Linda served as the Assistant to the Area Commanders, Irvington-Temple Corps Officer, and Aldine Westfield Corps Officer. In each appointment, she brought compassion, dedication, and a servant's heart to those she served.

Major Linda is loved by many and will be remembered not only for her ministry leadership but also for the joy and creativity she brought to our staff family. Whether celebrating holidays, organizing special gatherings, or leading her signature icebreaker games, and love for music, she had a unique gift for bringing people together, creating laughter, and fostering a sense of community and belonging.

Her warmth, encouragement, and joyful spirit have left a lasting impact on staff, officers, volunteers, and congregants across Greater Houston. While we will miss her presence, we celebrate a lifetime of faithful service and the countless lives she has touched along the way.

As Major Linda begins this new chapter, we pray God's richest blessings upon her retirement and thank her for her unwavering commitment to serving Christ and others.

Major Linda, Houston will miss you, but your legacy of faith, fellowship, and joy will continue to inspire us for years to come. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement!
