Meet Eunice Pluma, a dedicated Leader Case Management Specialist whose compassion, leadership, and commitment to service embody the heart of The Salvation Army’s mission.
I am a mother to a beautiful two-year-old daughter, and I’ve been with The Salvation Army since January 2023.”
Since joining the organization, Eunice has served in several roles, each shaping her both professionally and personally. Her passion for helping families and children inspired her to pursue social work, a calling she describes as deeply rooted in her desire to support those facing hardship.
Outside of her full-time role, Eunice also supports her family’s weekend food business, specializing in blue corn quesadillas. Balancing her career and business has strengthened her skills in time management, teamwork, and community connection.
Her drive in social services comes from witnessing clients’ growth firsthand.
“What keeps me motivated is watching clients move from chronic homelessness or crisis into stability. Even with setbacks, their resilience inspires me every day.”
One standout moment for Eunice was supporting a client who within a year secured stable employment, planned a wedding, and purchased a home. she said, “seeing her reach those milestones and graduate from the program reminded me why I chose this field.”
As Lead Case Management Specialist, Eunice oversees a team of five case managers. Her day includes:
Providing supervision and guidance on complex cases
Conducting home visits with staff
Reviewing case notes and service entries for accuracy and compliance
Ensuring documentation and rental assistance processes are completed efficiently
Supporting quality assurance and program standards
Her leadership helps ensure families experiencing homelessness or crisis receive client-centered, comprehensive services, including 100% rental assistance to stabilize housing and prevent future episodes of homelessness.
Eunice says her greatest learning comes from the clients themselves.
“Their resilience is incredible. Many simply lacked opportunity or support. Hearing their stories has taught me to approach everyone without judgment and to truly listen.”
To stay motivated in high-demand work, Eunice practices reflection, mindfulness, and relies on her faith.
Her favorite way to unwind after work is spending time with her family, exercising, lighting candles, enjoying takeout, and ending the day with a movie at home. She loves Coffee and one word to describe her job is Transformative.
We celebrate Eunice for her passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to helping individuals and families rebuild their lives. Her recent achievement of earning her master’s degree is a testament to her dedication and drive. Eunice’s work continues to be a powerful example of what it means to truly Do the Most Good, and we are proud to honor her remarkable impact on our community.
Case workers play a vital role in the health and stability of our community. They walk alongside individuals and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives providing guidance, resources, advocacy, and hope.
While volunteers, partners, and community organizations are essential in strengthening our mission, it is often the case worker who stands in the gap, ensuring that every person receives the support, dignity, and individualized care they deserve.
As Scripture reminds us in Galatians 6:2, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
