SALVATION ARMY PROVIDES
HOLISTIC RESPONSE FOR UKRAINE

The Salvation Army is engaged in a world-wide response to the crisis in Ukraine.  With an established and active presence in Ukraine and surrounding countries, The Salvation Army is uniquely positioned to provide immediate and meaningful aid in the traumatic time of need.

Salvation Army staff and volunteers in Ukraine, Romania, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czeck Republic are in the midst of a massive Emergency Disaster Service response. Across the region, just some of the things being done by The Salvation Army are:

  • Preparing and serving food to war refugees.
  • Providing a warm and safe place to sleep.
  • Supplying road-ready food and drinks to those who continue to move away from the borders.
  • Providing diapers, formula, and hygiene products for babies born–many prematurely–in crisis.
  • Sharing blankets and clothes, sometimes from the responder’s own home.
  • Giving emotional and spiritual care to those who have been forced from their homes and communities.
  • Alerting women and children to the potential traps of human trafficking while they are particularly vulnerable by providing information and resources.

Despite personal danger, The Salvation Army is responding to needs where, and as, they are with a holistic approach, even in the most trying of circumstances.

The constantly changing environment is an obstacle to be overcome, such as leaving a vehicle at a road closure and traveling by foot for nearly three miles carrying food and water to a makeshift camp near the Ukraine border.

Expanding beyond the immediate region, The Salvation Army has deployed Rapid Response aid.  This includes funds, personnel, expertise, and urgently needed supplies from Salvation Army resources in more than 130 countries.

The world-wide leader of The Salvation Army, General Brian Peddle, called for dedicated times of prayer for the Ukrainian people and those actively responding to the crisis.

The Salvation Army is committed to serving others without discrimination.  In times of crisis, you can trust that The Salvation Army’s staff and volunteers are serving those who are in the greatest needs-quietly offering help and hope.
