Major Dan Rooney, United States Air Force Pilot and PGA Golf Professional, to serve as Keynote Speaker at The Salvation Army’s Annual Luncheon on November 15, 2017
The Salvation Army of Greater Houston is proud to announce that United States Air Force Pilot and PGA Golf Professional Major Dan “Noonan” Rooney will serve as the Keynote Speaker at this year’s 2017 Annual Luncheon, taking place on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the River Oaks Country Club.
About The Keynote Speaker
Major Dan “Noonan” Rooney is a fighter pilot with three combat tours in Iraq, a PGA Golf Professional, and the founder of Folds of Honor – an organization that awards scholarships to the family members of soldiers who are disabled or killed in combat. A decorated military aviator, Major Rooney is currently stationed at Tyndall AFB in Florida as a member of 301st Fighter Squadron. He is a two-time recipient of the Top Gun award and has received many decorations to include the Distinguished Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Medal, Anti-terrorism Medal, and Air Expeditionary Medal.
For his service and patriotism—Major Rooney was presented the White House’s “Presidential Volunteer Service Award” by President George W. Bush, the Air National Guard’s “Directors Service Award” and the Ellis Island “Medal of Honor.” He was honored at The Masters Invitational with the “William D. Richardson Award” for his outstanding contributions to golf and received the PGA of America’s first-ever “Patriot Award.” He has been recognized as one of People Magazine‘s “Heroes of the Year,” Money Magazine’s “Hero of the Year” and ABC World News Tonight‘s “Persons of the Year.” Major Rooney is the author of A Patriot’s Calling – Living Life Between Fear and Faith and the proud father of five daughters.
“The Salvation Army is proud of the programs and services it offers to veterans who have served our country but are struggling to make ends meet when they come back home,” said Major Kent Davis, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Greater Houston. “For this reason, we are excited to have Major Rooney join us this year as our Keynote Speaker. Major Rooney is a champion for veterans and their families, and we are looking forward to hearing him speak.”
About the Annual Luncheon
This event is organized by The Salvation Army of Greater Houston’s Advisory Board. This year’s Annual Luncheon Chairs are Beth and Jeffrey Early and the 2017 Honorees are Sally and William Slick, Jr.
Bill is a lifetime member of The Salvation Army of Greater Houston Advisory Board and emeritus member of The Salvation Army National Advisory Board. Sally is a Founding Member of The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Houston.
Individual tickets for this fundraiser begin at $300 and table sponsorships range from $6,000 to $50,000. All proceeds raised will benefit the various programs and services The Salvation Army offers across Harris, Fort Bend and Montgomery counties.
