David Hill, Meals on Wheels Recipient

Life before The Salvation Army

Hill is 73 years old and, suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and degenerative bone disease, is restricted to a wheelchair. Having had open heart surgery a couple of years ago, only twenty percent of Hill’s heart is working.

Without support at home, his sister, a hospice nurse, informed him about the Pasadena Corps Community Center’ Meals on Wheels program. “Since I don’t cook, I’d probably eat less nutritious meals, like fast food. The Salvation Army brings me healthy meals and vegetables every day.”

Meals on Wheels at our Pasadena Corps Community Center

While the Pasadena Corps Community Center offers a day center for seniors, we also operate a Meals on Wheels
program to bring a three course meal to homebound seniors. Hill has been a recipient of the Meals on Wheels program for the past couple of years and looks forward to receiving his meal each day.
