Salvation Army’s Disaster Services

Program Volunteer Supervisor – FT

Assists the Area Command Program Director, for coordination and implementation of ongoing program volunteer services with focus on individual volunteer opportunities; Recruits, enroll, and trains volunteers to be activated in support of all programs within the Houston Area Command; helps supervise volunteers; collects, organizes, and maintains volunteer information; assists in the preparation of volunteer activity reports; responds to disasters as requested; performs special assignments and projects as may be required as part of program service delivery.

Housing and Homeless Services

Salvation Army’s Center of Hope

Shelter Monitor – FT

Assists residents staying in the shelter; perform client intake procedures and prepares client intake records; monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance to house rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; ensure that facility is maintained in a neat and proper order.

Receptionist

Answers the telephone in a courteous manner and directs calls to the appropriate destination; records accurate and complete messages when necessary; receives and receipts deliveries and donations; greets and announces visitors and clients; provides general information about The Salvation Army’s operations and services; performs routine clerical work such as typing and filing; performs outreach intake; performs data quality follow up, reporting, file management and report closure in the HMIS system

Kitchen Supervisor

Plans, coordinates, supervises and evaluates the day-to-day operations of a Food Services program; plans and develops menus; purchases food and maintains an adequate level of inventory for program needs; prepares and administers a food budget; ensures food service program operates in compliance with health standards and regulations; supervises, schedules, evaluates and participates in the work of kitchen personnel including the cooking and serving of meals

Kitchen Assistant

Preps and serves nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules; ensures all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner; cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances; maintains an inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner.

Office Manager

Plans, directs, and supervises the work of assigned staff; performs a combination of administrative and financial tasks for the Center Of Hope; prepares and maintains financial records in an accurate, complete, and timely manner; ensures the accomplishment of the various office tasks in the most efficient and effective manner possible; prepares various routine and special reports to keep the Officers abreast of progress; ensures office operations are in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures; ensures the office runs smoothly in the Director’s absence; completes human resources functions for the location.

Custodian

Provides a variety of cleaning duties and maintains the building to ensure the upkeep, neatness, and cleanliness of the same on a daily basis.

Salvation Army’s Family Residence

Housing Navigator – FT

The Housing Navigator is responsible for working closely with the case management team in order to assist individuals and families participating in the Houston Area Command’s housing program; assists individuals and families with Securing Affordable Safe Sustainable housing opportunities; provides guidance and direct assistance to individuals and families with utilizing housing resources, housing opportunities as it relates to past/present barriers, budgeting, and others that are deemed necessary; networks, maintains and cultivates relationships with landlords, private and non-profits, and potential community partners that want to provide housing opportunities to The Salvation Army housing program participants.

Client Services Manager – FT

Manages the delivery of direct client services provided by assigned Shelter staff; provides support to the Director in the supervision of the daily assigned program operations; ensures day-to-day operations are in compliance with contract, licensure, and Salvation Army standards; facilitates an emotional and physical environment conducive to enhancing positive staff and client morale and stabilization; provides proper instruction and training for Shelter staff to appropriately and efficiently carry out staff functions and job responsibilities.

Case Management Specialist – FT

Interviews, accepts, and provides comprehensive, long-term, structured, complex, case management services for an assigned caseload of clients participating in an established  life management program; understands the uniqueness of the client’s history in order to determine most effective program plans; develops comprehensive program plan/goals and evaluates client’s progress by conducting mentoring and counseling sessions with client and/or staff; serves as advocate for client in order to acquire services that will enable them to functionally cope with their environment; ensures constant compliance with funding requirements.

Aldine Westfield Corps Community Center

Office Manager/ Bookkeeper – FT

Performs a combination of administrative and bookkeeping tasks for a local unit; applies fundamental bookkeeping knowledge and skills to varied bookkeeping tasks such as posting, checking entries, issuing checks, balancing accounts, and preparing financial reports for assigned accounts; prepares and maintains financial records in an accurate, complete, and timely manner; ensures the accomplishment of the various office tasks in the most efficient and effective manner possible; prepares various routine and special reports to keep the Officers abreast of progress; ensures office operations are in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures; completes all human resources functions for Corps; ensures all reports relating to the day-to-day operations are delivered in a timely manner to Houston Area Command, prepares and submits all requisitions to HAC for approval of purchases of equipment, furniture, and supplies as per The Salvation Army Minutes.

Facilities Maintenance Supervisor – FT

Job Summary: Plans, schedules, supervises, and performs the day-to-day general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment; ensures all equipment remains in proper working order and compliance with standard operating procedures and safety standards; performs a variety of skilled maintenance work for buildings and grounds, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work as well as routine maintenance and repairs.
