Community Relations and Development

Community Relations & Communications Manager – Exempt

Plans, directs, monitors, and evaluates all internal and external media and public relations functions for the Houston Area Command to ensure the that The Salvation Army maintains a positive and professional image in the community; serves as Public Information Officer for all disaster services of the Houston Area Command; serves as liaison to all media ensuring the desired message is communicated; takes photographs and writes articles covering Salvation Army events.

Area Command – Disaster Services

Program Volunteer Supervisor – FT

Assists the Area Command Program Director, for coordination and implementation of ongoing program volunteer services with focus on individual volunteer opportunities; Recruits, enroll, and trains volunteers to be activated in support of all programs within the Houston Area Command; helps supervise volunteers; collects, organizes, and maintains volunteer information; assists in the preparation of volunteer activity reports; responds to disasters as requested; performs special assignments and projects as may be required as part of program service delivery.

Long-Term Recovery Program Manager – FT

Job SummarySupervise case managers and be responsible for the achievement of recovery case management goals.  Provide overall case management direction,  activities and integration with other staff in the program. Will be responsible for reporting, compliance, monitoring, and evaluation of under direct control. Participate in disaster-related community efforts related to long-term recovery. Responsibilities will include volunteer administration, logistics, reporting, monitoring and collaborative fundraising for the project.

Family Residence

Housekeeper – FT

Performs a variety of housekeeping and laundry duties for a social service resident facility; cleans rooms; the neatness and cleanliness of the resident facility on a daily basis. Full-time position.

Harbor Light Center

Shelter Monitor – PT

Primary Functions: Assists residents staying in the shelter; performs client intake procedures and prepares client intake records; monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security, and compliance to house rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; ensures that facility is maintained in a neat and proper order.

Cook – PT

Primary Functions: Cooks and serves nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules; ensures all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner; cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances; maintains an inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner.

Aldine Westfield Corps Community Center

Program Aide – PT 

Primary Functions: Leads children’s activities at an after school program, including classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, bible study, computer programs, and specialized programs; prepares and serves children lunch and snacks; assists in leading field trips; maintains the cleanliness of the after school area; transports passengers in a Salvation Army vehicle.

Job Summary: Plans, schedules, supervises, and performs the day-to-day general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment; ensures all equipment remains in proper working order and compliance with standard operating procedures and safety standards; performs a variety of skilled maintenance work for buildings and grounds, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work as well as routine maintenance and repairs.
